What a business pays Meta for now
Meta charges for WhatsApp messages at its own rates and bills them to your WhatsApp Business Account directly. What a message costs depends on its category, such as Marketing or Utility, and on the country of the customer, and since October replies beyond the monthly allowance are charged too. Meta’s pricing page has the current rates.
- Templates you send to start a conversation: charged by Meta by category and country.
- Replies within 24 hours of a customer’s message: each number has a monthly allowance; beyond it, Meta charges for them too.
- Who bills you: Meta, to your own WhatsApp Business Account. These charges are not part of your GoPromoteNow plan.
What it means for you
If your customers write to you often, check how much of each number’s monthly allowance you use, and make sure a payment method is on your WhatsApp Business Account before it runs out, or replies stop going out. Templates you send to start a conversation are charged by category and country, as Meta’s pricing page sets out.
- Open WhatsApp Manager and check that a payment method is on your WhatsApp Business Account.
- Watch each number’s use of the monthly allowance through the month.
- Keep promotional messages for customers who agreed to hear from you: Marketing is the category Meta charges more for.
How GoPromoteNow helps
The WhatsApp account page shows how much of this month’s allowance each number has used, and what WhatsApp still needs from you, such as a payment method. Broadcast shows what a send will cost before it goes, at WhatsApp’s current prices, and our plan’s price never includes Meta’s charges, so nothing is marked up.
Where to check Meta’s rates
Meta publishes its rates, its categories and the monthly allowance on its own pricing page, and changes them itself, so that page is the only place to rely on for a number. We link to it rather than copy it, because a copied rate is out of date the day Meta changes it.
